Project Director

In order to explore the natural resources for planning and execution of various developmental activities in the state, Remote Sensing Centre was established within Science and Technology, Planning Department, Govt. of Mizoram in the year 1988. For effective functioning and flexibility in management and execution of the projects, the centre was re-established as an Autonomous Government Institution under Science, Technology and Environment Wing, Planning Department, Government of Mizoram (Notification No. B.13015/1/2007 – PLG, the 2nd September, 2008).The Centre is registered under Mizoram Society Registration Act, 2005 (Reg. No. MSR - 30 of 19.1.2007). It is the nodal organisation of the State for carrying out and disseminating Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) related projects to various user Departments/Agencies in the State. MIRSAC has completed various sponsored, collaborative and user paid projects in this aspect not only for the state but also representing the state at national level projects where Remote sensing and GIS inputs are required. These projects provide valuable baseline information and data for the execution of allied projects in various streams of developmental activities.

The Centre's administration is managed by the Governing Body of MIRSAC comprising of Chairman, Vice Chairman, Member Secretary and other 15 members from various line Departments of the State. The Centre is equipped with state-of-the art Remote Sensing & GIS Labs handled by scientists and engineers in their respective thematic areas of work.

Since MIRSAC is the nodal agency for providing operational Remote Sensing and GIS technology for planning and developmental activities of the state, I request all the departments of the state to harness and utilize the capabilities of this technology available at MIRSAC.
